About the Club

Purpose

The New Forest Piano Club is primarily to support pianists in playing in front of others, so that we can gain ease and confidence in our abilities and can encourage others on their journey. Alongside this, of course, we gain the opportunity to listen to a wide variety of perhaps unfamiliar music whilst we meet up and connect with other friendly, like-minded souls.

Who is it for?

Pianists of all levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced, no previous performing experience necessary. We especially welcome any pianists who are nervous of playing piano in front of others, but wish to dip their toe in and start building confidence.

Feeling nervous? Not sure about playing? Never been to a piano club before? Why not just bring along your piece, and see how the mood takes you? If you decide not to play, that’s fine. You won’t be forced into anything.

What to do

Book a place at the next event, then prepare a piece (or two) to perform. It’s a good idea to prepare a really simple piece to play first if you are a little unsure. While we all hope that our playing will go well on the day, often nerves kick in, and mistakes jump in unannounced!! That’s all part of performing and fellow pianists are all there to understand and support.

What will happen?

We meet in the cafe adjoining approximately 15 minutes beforehand (1.15pm), then go into the studio at 1.30pm for our performances.

At the moment numbers are limited to 12 per event. See booking a space.
